💡Back to our normal routines we go as we begin our fresh start in the new year! Staying up late during the holidays may have made it difficult to fall back to our usual sleep schedules, especially for kids; here are a few exercise activities that can help wind them down before a good night’s sleep.
1. Indoor Obstacle Course
Placing pillows around the living room or hallway is a fun activity that can tire your kids out. Add some streamers on the walls or ceilings to turn them into spies that try to avoid laser beams or scream out “The Floor is Lava!”
2. Monster Chase
Maybe not right before bedtime, but earlier during the day you can play a game of monster chasing. Make the game more immersive by adding spooky background music or have them use their whole body and facial expression to act like a monster.
3. Simon Says
Good old Simon Says. Mix up prompts like spinning around, jumping up and down, shake your bum, act like a monkey!
4. Musical Activities
Playing songs like “Hokey Pokey” or “Head, Should, Knees, and Toes” are easy yet fun to follow along. Musical chairs is also another fun activity that can get your kids singing along while also being active.
